Today I’m excited to be reviewing Tomorrow’s End by G R Morris a gripping science fiction novel With plenty of action the book delves deep into the idea of an alien controlled EarthThe front cover caught my eye first with its gorgeous artworkLooking at it so many ideas flit through my mind What do you think of the artwork? AboutKevin is destined to be the human saviour of the Earth to prevent a future of total destruction where the human race will cease to be However another saviour of the changelings has awoken as Darren a young girl with incredible psychic powersThis first installment follows Kevin and Darren’s progress as they come into their knowledge of the real world and its true terrifying masters Light vs darkness is a core theme throughout the book as is the power of choice free willCharactersKevin has always been afraid of the dark and for good reason he’s seen things no young child should ever see Now a grown man he has become curious intelligent and capable of following his intuition as he is taken in by Robert a reptilian being destined to be his protector Kevin shows great courage and determination making for a likable protagonistHowever I personally felt drawn to Darren as a secondary protagonist Stuck in an orphanage with corrupt staff she must learn to be strong to survive Witnessing her sudden growth spurts and formation of psychic powers was fun Clever and cunning I adored every chapter that followed her progressLikes and DislikesI enjoyed the uotes included at the start of each new chapter some from real historical figures and others from fictional characters of the author’s own making Each helped to strengthen the ongoing theme of light vs darknessOn the other hand I slowly came to dislike the sheer level of description included in places as I felt it interrupted the natural flow of some scenes Memorable uotesAs usual I found it hard to choose just one memorable uote from such an interesting bookThe three listed below captured my mind the most1 ‘Real control is influencing someone to the point that he believes his choices are his own’2 ‘A person’s identity grows It’s almost impossible to know who you are because it’s always changing’3 ‘Life is a journey of discovery finding out our reason for being and fulfilling that purpose’OverviewOverall I really enjoyed Tomorrow’s End It was an intelligent and thought provoking readwith a lot of action However if you dislike a lot of description then it may not be ideal for youRecommended to lovers of the science fiction genreMy rating 4 stars

A creative and vivid action adventure with high tech gadgets and a bizarre and crazy gore fest written with great imagination I tried to like this and at first it was a little confusing but OK but I tired of the continual gore and I struggled to finish it There are some great philosophical and life lessons along the way though I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway

I received this book through a Goodreads giveawayI'm not really sure what to say about this book It certainly has an enormous scope Starting as a fairly straightforward science fictionfantasy novel it veers into a philosophical splurge on the subject of free will and choice Not to say that it wasn't entertaining and thought provoking but I did hope to get back to the action because the action is fun and fast and original Will I read the next installment? I'm not sure If I happen upon it I will but I don't think I'd search it out

Reviewed for Pacific Book ReviewGood versus evil Light against dark Heroes fight villains These constant philosophical issues appear in nearly all stories Readers are fascinated when despite the immensely complicated stories the conflict devolves into these binary concepts Some stories capture the imagination with epic armies of slobbering orcs against a determined hero Others invoke simplicity Goodlightheroes against the evildarkvillains are a fascinating hook “Tomorrows End The Path of a Savior” is the first book in a series that delves into the very hook that captures readersGR Morris’s ambitious first novel “Tomorrows End The Path of a Savior” catches the reader with a seemingly simple tale Kevin Knight has been abused by his stepfather his entire life while his mother spins tales of an angelic father and an epic destiny Except the tales are true and the abuse is actually training Kevin is the Savior destined to fight the embodiment of evil The Dragon Morris takes things further and throws in some mind altering twists Humanity is not only in danger of complete destruction by “The Darkness” but it has been weakened by an alien race hiding behind the scenes of reality Nearly all humans are actually replacements beings powered by diamonds known as Walkers Across the galaxy aliens and humans alike fear the end of all things Some believe Kevin to be the Savior; others believe he is the destroyer Uniue to this story there is than one savior In addition to Kevin various races believe in either Daren a Changeling or The Dragon to be the savior to protect them from evil Throw in time travel computer intelligence paranormal beings and extreme gore and action and you have “Tomorrows End The Path of a Savior”“Tomorrows End” is a story that has to be read It is nearly impossible to summarize without giving away huge plot twists Kevin is thrown in a battle between good and evil that spans time and space It is a story that grabs the attention from page one and never let’s go Kevin’s adventures make for a thundering roller coaster read rife with philosophy religion and morality “Tomorrows End” is not suited for younger readers thanks for over the top gore and mature concepts This will be a great series that blends elements from “The Matrix” and “Dune” into a sci fi powerhouse of a story “Tomorrows End” will be a series that lingers in readers hearts and transports you to a new world

In the cleanest of scenarios in novels thrillers and mysteries alike the good guy wins In such a world free will and choice are God given rights and infuse the paths of the righteous with clear direction Evil eventually is defeated in these paradigms and good reigns That's the formula for a traditional story lineNow take that formula and mix it up Assume there are in fact no real choices and no free will; but an inevitability that leads the human race inexorably in one fatal directionAssume that being in charge of one's life is an illusion; that in reality others are directing a play called 'life' Then assume that there's another world influencer about to rise named Nightstalker who has been a marionette for many lifetimes but is now ready to cut the strings and up the ante that is humanityMix up all these elements and you have the gist of Tomorrow's End a satisfying dance between sci fi mystery and spiritual reader which posits a new kind of evil force set loose in the worldTomorrow's End is about demons and battles and about creatures from hell and the tortures they exact on their victims Readers should be prepared for scenes of entrails spilling violence as battles rage across the pages of a book replete with religious confrontation and a world ruled by right and wrong choices which even the evil Nightstalker must bow to They should also be prepared for time fluxes that place Kevin in another era battling the Dragon that's linked to Hell itself; and for Kevin's evolution beyond his own humanity with eyes that can peer into atomic structures themselvesExpect a virtual conflagration of forces that meet with the atomic smash of a matterantimatter collision with humanity's ultimate survival at the heart of world altering confrontations And what do spaceships aliens a transitioning teenager a new kind of Eve and a President used to and disgusted by demons have to do with ultimate salvation and transformation? Aside from the violent struggles that permeate its pages Tomorrow's End offers no pat plot and no singular purpose on the part of its protagonists Add the unexpected Christian references and alternate viewpoints throughout and you have a strange attractor that will grip Christian readers of Revelations and secular readers of science fiction alike

GR Morris delivers a sprawling sophisticated and philosophical sci fi thriller that should appear to both traditionalists and YA fans alikeSixteen year old Kevin Knight goes by a lot of names Nightstalker hero and most importantly savior The savior of what you may ask? Oh nothing much Just Earth and life as we know itKevin is the epitome of the reluctant teenage savior Despite strong evidence that he’s not only the “chosen one” but also in possession of a uniue set of physical talents he just wants to be normal But as his alien protector and mentor Robert gently explains “Sometimes when people get what they want they realize it wasn’t what they wanted at all”Robert’s explanation is much than just a pat observation Robert’s Earth is one in which one’s destiny is not just a matter of choice it’s also dependent on being able to percieve the very nature of reality That sounds almost reasonable until you factor in the omniscient alien using something called the TimewebExpect to feel somewhat bewildered during portions of Tomorrows End Not only does the book feature an ensemble cast of humans and aliens but you’ll also be shuttled between the 1970s the distant future and elsewhere Depending on where you are along the timeline it’s either Kevin’s first mission or his 3000thBut somehow the story actually worksCredit Morris’ protagonist Kevin Knight a fully developed teen hero that is is every bit as appealing as any contemporary YA character In addition the book contains an unusual depth thanks to contextually useful discussions among the characters about God free will and the nature of reality itself These invariably serve the plot and Kevin’s character arc magnificentlySprinkled in are choice uotes from CS Lewis John Dewey and other luminaries All too often in literature uotes simply distract from plot In this case however they manage to illuminate And like a telescope searching out the heavens the book’s payoff gradually and satisfyingly comes into focus
